books books books!

I read plenty many books. I am sure many of you read plenty many too. But i believe there is one book which is so special that we keep going back to it. No matter how many times we read, never get tired of it.

For me that book is “vyakti ani valli” by P.L. Deshpande. It is in my language Marathi. Several interesting characters are portrayed in this book. My favourite character is Nanda Pradhan. it is a poignant story; i envy him and at the same time i feel pity.

Apart from my most favourite book; I mainly read english classic novels and some short stories and novels by Indian authors. I even read all the Jack Reacher books too. ;)

I would love to hear what books you read and do you have any favourite?

Currently reading - Mansfield Park (recommendations are welcome!)

    1. i knew you love poetry dear Sara. And i agree; translated poetry loses it's charm after translating.

  3. I usually prefer to read novels, biographies, diaries or history related books (anything that tells about a certain place or event of world history!). I don't really have a favourite book, I don't come back to books I've read, it's strange. If I liked it once, it's more than enough... Besides I'm not a good reader, I'm a bit all over the place, I start one, read a few pages, put it down, start another, haha. I'm a mess. Sometimes it takes me months to finish a book. But I do love them, I enjoy reading and buying books! And of course: taking pictures and seeing other people's books!

    1. Thank you for stopping by Vix. I like old novels; they always transfer me back to 100-200 year old era which i have never seen. Apart from above book that i mentioned i don't read the same book again. I loved you FB page it's a great way to find lots of books. :)

  4. I love that you read books from Indian authors, and books in your language. I have a favorite Filipino author as well. Sadly, I don't think most Filipinos read books from our same race. Or maybe I just don't know anyone besides myself.

I love reading journals or journal type of books. Biographies or authobiographies. And books with characters who suffers from a psyche problem. I love Sylvia Plath, even tho I've read her one and only novel. Kurt Cobain's biography - Heavier Than Heavy. Perks of course. Catcher In The Rye. And all of John Green's books except Abundance. Hahaha! I don't read much as well, and usually takes months to finish one. Just like Vix.:D Nevertheless, I still like reading.

  5. oooooohhh, that penguin edition of madame bovary! ♥♥♥♥♥
i love books and while i don't read as much as i'd like because it's not as easy finding time for it as it once was, i still buy them by the dozen (not really by the dozen, but almost).

i read novels, short stories and poetry books from all different countries. i can read grecoroman, french, chinese, japanese, northamerican, british, spanish, argentinian, colombian, german, italian, bengali, russian authors all the same, but i have problems reading books that were published after 1970's :3 i've read a few and while there are one or two i really love, most of the times i just cannot seem to get as interested in the stories. but that's maybe because i'm an old soul who likes old things.

i think i must have reread the lord of the rings thousands of times. the book of tea as well. and siddhartha ♥♥♥ i love herman hesse with all my heart. i don't re read as much as i used to when i was a teen, but there are books to which i always go back and while i might not read them whole again, i like to open on a random page and just read a line or two. specially with poetry books

    1. there were plenty books in penguin edition but super expensive, i could buy only one. Honestly I found many interesting books on your just a minute series. One of that is Maasi and other stories by Rabindranath Tagore. All those stories were crazy fascinating. :) I think i should try getting some herman hesse books now. So your soul book is lord of the ring i guess. :-)
      Thanks for stopping by.

PS - i am glad you finally got my letter. ♥ ♥ ♥

    2. oh, i don't know if it is my soul book, i first read it when i was very young (13yo) and loved it and read it many times after that, but if you were to say to me that i could only pick a handful of books to take with me to a deserted island i probably wouldn't choose it. ha! well that's interesting, i really don't know what i'd choose. i want to take my whole library with me ;)

i love rabindranath tagore! i only have three books of his, i'd love to get a few more :3
my favourite by herman hesse is siddhartha, i love it oh so very much. demian too. all of his books, really. but if you have to choose just one, i'd say go with either siddhartha or demian :)

I love all Clarice Lispector books, On the road by Jack Kerouac is still one of my favorites, I love russian authors, especially Dostoievski, but my all time favorite book is still Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.
